Social Networked and Market Driven Morals In the U.S.

Social Networking and the economy of profanity and graphic news content within social networks could and does directly alter both the morally acceptable freedom of expression in the United States and the moral climate in which we strive for freedom.

Having extremely diverse communities and individuals represented on social networks while being subjected to the same profanity rules set by the social network creates a false homogeny in which we have all begun to resent political correctness while some of us are struggling to maintain an environment of inclusion and diversity.

Andrea Mantegna, The Lamentation over the Dead Christ

There is one very important equalizer that seems to be slipping as our word choices of emphasizing our points decline. That is the “13 years or older” rule present on most social networks. Most reasonable adults do not want to use profanity in the presence of preteens and school age children. I maintain that this age restriction must dictate all further filters on word choices and content. That is just as important for the adult as the child. We must be able to cope with mature, complex, content if we willingly enter a 13 plus venue.

The most dangerous language is contained in the metalanguage. The loaded, premeditated, wording, imagery, and content, that are placed either algorithmically on social networks are significantly more disturbing and intentionally, emotionally triggering than blurting out the occasional swear word. As evidence I ‘d like to note that an enormous amount of money is spent composing distressing content that contains no profanity and then stacking these posts to further the impact of the post that may intentionally trigger, alarm, or create a general sense of unease in the reader who can not predict when such carefully distributed post will be embedded into a feed or stream. That is either human targeted or uses expensive promotions all in the name of creating a destabilizing effect on the reader.

Language choices and content specific posts are very often reviewed by people living in poverty in cultures very different than the West. With wages totaling just a few cents per word removal there is an incentive to find as many “inappropriate” posts as possible. The result is that we all begin to see an evolution in the way we write. Our brains are made of what we hear, read and think. Over a short period of time our inhibition levels tighten through semantic constructs in our minds.

It’s long been know that one way companies like Google and Facebook monitors obscenities is to hire low paid labor, often oversees, to manually review posts for unacceptable words, violence, and sexual content. They are only going to catch the list of profanities and inappropriate images. They are not charged with picking through manipulative posts that are quite literally either meant to intimidate or create a fearful, schizoid relationship to the world.

This sounds subjective but there are millions of articles on metalanguage and how it can drive the extreme force of cultural shifts in what is acceptable to say even among close friends.

Summary: Targeted ad campaigns in the form of news will and does change your ability to communicate. It’s not that you’ve stop trying. There are physiological changes in the brain when you are presented with corresponding headlines, images, and seeing trusted friend like and tweet. It is 100% intentional and that ecosystem of rot is at the crux of fake news. Fake news is a bit of a misnomer. This is a form of forced societal shift at the hands of the radical groups that unleash it on the public. I have seen a sharp decline in the creatives that bless our presence on social media.

It is counter-intuitive, but artists will be hit the hardest because they are priority number one in tightening the garrote around the throat of freedom of not just speech but spirit and thought. The goal will be to remove all forms of creative inspiration form the public. The scientist is often next in line. That is the genesis of the blacklist. They are a threat to the antisocial agenda and a lot of money is spent to curate these “trigger word” laden articles in a show of force against our artists, free thinkers, hippies, and academics. The A.I. craze does not need to be so mainstream. It’s a media construct and never forget that the goal of media is to sell you what is produced by organizations despite the benefit or need of the consumer. We need journalists, artists, and scientists to maintain a culture that flourishes not decomposes.
